The goal of
physical education is to teach life long
physical fitness and activity; teaching students
about the importance of activity and the role it
has in their lives. Here at LMS students learn
social skills, perseverance, diligence, personal
space, body awareness, discipline, coordination,
balance, locomotion, team work, cooperation, and
communication. These are but a few of the focal
points in the curriculum. The curriculum
consists of units; each unit is approximately
three weeks in length. Units adhere to the New
York State Learning Standards.
Proper Attire
Students are
required to wear sneakers that are laced tightly
to the top. Dress shoes, work boots, platform
sneakers, backless sneakers, oversized clothing
which may be hazardous in the PE area, dresses
and skirts are not acceptable. Students should
not wear jewelry during physical education.
Jewelry should be locked in student’s homeroom
lockers.
