General Information:
Address: 41 Yaphank Middle Island Road Middle Island NY 11953The principal and staff envision a learning environment that nurtures the concept that every child can learn. It is the vision of the Middle School that within two years each student will meet competency levels on or above the state criteria. Our focus is on interdisciplinary activities differentiated to meet the needs of all students. Each child is encouraged to participate in all aspects of the school community
.
At the Middle School, we work to realize the notion that all children should be empowered to achieve their personal best. There are opportunities for each child to gain academic and artistic success as well as activities designed to ensure growth experiences in the areas of citizenship, leadership, and peer relationships.
Reflecting the community’s desire for high quality education, the Board of Education and Central Administration facilitate the implementation and maintenance of high caliber programs which meet the NYS Standards in all academic areas. Among our foremost concerns is that our students demonstrate the ability to understand the writing process and exhibit mastery before they leave the Middle School. Another chief concern is the refinement of reading, listening, and critical thinking skills. Special focus areas also include problem solving, computer literacy, technology, hands-on science exploration, and creative expression. Programs have been developed in each area that allow for student achievement, thereby strengthening self-esteem.
