PBIS

The Longwood Middle School is a school that incorporates a management program entitled PBIS (Positive
Behaviors, Interventions and Supports).  This program is meant to reinforce the positive behaviors of students doing what is expected of them as well as supporting students who need extra assistance to reach the school-wide expectations of Respecting Ourselves, Respecting Others, and Respecting Property.

We encourage you to review the PBIS Matrix with your child.  You will find the PBIS Matrix in the your child’s agenda book.  Below, you will find a revised matrix with a few small additions.  It will provide a quick overview of what it means to be prepared, respectful, and responsible at the Longwood Middle School.  Students will learn more about PBIS through house talks, classroom lessons, modeling and practice.  In addition, PBIS posters will be placed around the building to remind students of our expectations.  Students can also be chosen by school staff to receive “Longwood Pride” tickets as a reward for displaying prepared, respectful, and/or responsible behaviors.  Students may enter the tickets in various random drawings where they can win spirit wear, tickets to PTA events like the Harlem Wizards, vouchers for Book Fairs or the Holiday Store, homework passes, gift cards, footballs, movie passes, and much more!  Students may also use the tickets to receive a discount at our school store.  Along with individual student incentives, we are offering great incentives for houses to work as a team.

At the Longwood Middle School we are dedicated to creating a positive and safe learning and working environment for all students, faculty and staff.
